The BOOK, BLOG, And MagazIne Side Of The C Influence

Yes, I know, it's been pathetic how TCI has been treated. But, the good news is - the archive is FREE - and it has a ton of content to stimulate your mind with some of the best writers on the internet when it comes to anomalous phenomena.

Indeed, to achieve such levels of thought and writing takes an internal energy one might or might not have at a given interval - we, the bloggers of TCI may have been lucky to produce this much good content in our group effort. Many writers/bloggers of such material often fade in and out of producing content or even at relating the anomalous events that happen to others. Speaking of the `second attention' is draining.

Indeed, I am no longer in contact with all the bloggers who are/were contributors to this blog - only some of them. Can TCI come back in some manner? Time will tell.

Now, all that said, bloggers are figuring out ways to make sure that their best material does not fade away from the digital world. Indeed, they are finding a better method to bring such digital anomaly writing to a wider public - Kindle Books or E Books of any kind - and offering ones blog on Amazon. And, multiple writers and contributors of The C Influence are doing just that - find some of those offerings below:
--------------------------------------
For Example - Erich Kuersten offers his blog on Kindle for 99 cents a month: Acidemic Film Journal which he describes as:

Exploring cinema from today, the psychedelic 1970s, and pre-code 1930s in a style that dissolves academic theory, Jungian archetypal psychology, gonzo memoir/journalism, and pop culture shoot from the hip kinetics into one potent brew.

Kindle blogs are fully downloaded onto your Kindle so you can read them even when you're not wirelessly connected. And unlike RSS readers which often only provide headlines, blogs on Kindle give you full text content and images, and are updated wirelessly throughout the day.

Acidemic film journal is not for tenderfooted tire kickers. It is for those who want more from a review than passive affirmation or vapid water cooler sound bites. Now that everyone and their cousin Joey has a film blog, it is imperative to be discerning if you value your position as a qualified cinephile. Erich does not take the easy route when it comes to blogging. His reviews have the uncompromising swagger and fire of an experienced pen fueled by a passion for the subject matter. Too often film blogs reek of artistic frustration and are fraught with distracting tangents and sophomoric stabs at theory. Erich delves beyond the narrative and into Jungian/Lacanian/Neitzschean/Satrean anthro-socio-political deconstructionism blended seamlessly into anecdotal nostalgia of a 70's disaffected youth & his subsequent demon battle lore. Many of his reviews are of obscure films because Acidemic is about the art, not the revenue. Often Erich's writing surpasses the quality of the film, which is kinda weird. To quote one of Erich's latest rants, "He expects no reward or condemnation, he doesn't think ahead or crave validation - he's just a dancer in the Shiva flame."

Lon Strickler also offers his blog Phantoms And Monsters too:

It's 99 Cents A Month too. And, here's what one reviewer said:

5.0 out of 5 stars Best value out there!!! October 2, 2011
By far Phantoms and Monsters is the best value out there. Everyday Lon has numerous articles and stories to fill your day. I've subscribed to other blogs and would only get an update every month or so. I have not been updated daily maybe 4 times and each time Lon has posted that there will be no updates. Thanks Lon for the great work you do.
=====================================================
Lon has also just uploaded his first Kindle Book called `Cryptid Encounters' too:
Lon describes the book as such:

Book Description

 September 25, 2012
A collection of personal cryptid encounter reports submitted by regular people who felt compelled to find answers about their unexplained experience. I keep an open mind when reading and discussing witness accounts since I truly understand how they feel...because few people believed my extraordinary encounter either.
============================================

And, Erich Kuersten, Bruce Duensing and Myself (Rick Phillips) - all had chapters in the below book released by Robert Cheatham in 2012 on Amazon. A book by the title `Materialization & Manifestation' (subtitle) `UFO Drag Queen'

==================================================
I will be featuring my Kindle books in an upcoming post.
================================
And, it's not all 2012 stuff - Lesley Gunter and Regan Lee had Chapters in the same issue of the UFO Magazine below:
=====================================================
I see that Erich has something in the draft phase in the dashboard - and I will be posting soon with all my new Kindle books too - perhaps a comeback of sorts has started.

The Shaman's Cape

TCI has a bevy of great thinkers and writers - here I present Regan Lee with The Shaman's Cape(Rick Phillips)
--------------------------------------------------

This was originally published on Binnall of America's website on my bi-weekly Trickster's Realm column on 12/26/05 and reposted on my Saucer Sightings blog, which is an archive of my own UFO sightings and encounters. The article has been edited for this post.
------------------------------------

The Shaman's Cape

About twelve years ago I was visiting friends who were house sitting for a mutual friend of ours. The home owner traveled to Mexico frequently on business; he owned a store in Oregon, and brought back folk art, books, and ceramics to sell in his store.

As I was wandering around the home looking at his extensive book collection, I noticed a large cape hanging on the wall. This cape was very unusual. It wasn’t made of any type of cloth, but seemed waxy and stiff, with little “horns” or large thick thorns protruding from it. The cape was a darkish lime green color. While the cape wasn’t made from any cloth like material and didn’t look like it’d be comfortable to wear -- certainly not practical -- it was obvious this was a cape indented to be worn.

I touched the cape, rubbing my fingers on its smooth surface, being careful of course to avoid those white yellowish stud things that were clearly sharp enough to really hurt if touched. I appreciated the cape for its history (whatever that may be, since I didn’t have a clue) and was drawn to it for some reason -- I couldn’t stop running my hands down the cool smooth surface. Even while I was attracted to the cape, I felt uncomfortable around it at the same time; I didn’t like it. It was big and ugly, a sickish green color, and subconsciously, it annoyed me. It just seemed out of place.

I had planned on staying to visit with my friends but suddenly felt extremely tired. It was the middle of the afternoon and a beautiful day, but I had to get home -- I was just so suddenly exhausted. Fortunately I didn’t live far, just a couple of miles. Yet riding my bike home on that beautiful day was so damn exhausting. I was losing focus; as if I were coming down with the flu yet I didn’t feel sick, as in ill, just ... unexplainably tired.

As soon as I got home I headed right for the bed, flopping down and grateful to finally make it home. Almost immediately I began to leave my body; one of those OBE states that happen to me spontaneously and that I haven’t been able to control since I was a child. I wasn’t asleep, but not awake exactly, yet I was consciousness of the bedroom, the open window, the sun coming through the screen and other mundane things. At the same time I was paralyzed but felt myself rapidly leaving my body. I could hear the sound of whistles and flutes coming from a distance away, then getting closer. These musical sounds were not coming from outside (like a neighbors house or stereo) but from whatever place my astral body was going towards...

The next thing I knew I was in a deep sleep. I remember visions of chanting and signing, the flutes and whistles again, the cape draped around someone, a man. I couldn’t see his face. We were somewhere in the desert, or some rural country area. It was night and the stars were numerous and very close to the ground; I could touch them if I just reached out far enough. This was no dream; it was as real as this moment now, sitting here typing this. The memory of the desert ground; so hard, with dusty brown bits of soft dust, the coolish night air, the smells of earth and night, the music of flutes, bells, chanting. I was next to this man in a cape, his cape, face unseen, doing a jerky kind of wheeling, turning movement beneath the stars.

When I woke up, it was dark, and I felt as if I’d been poisoned. Not actually physically sick but I mean, I felt as if someone had given me some kind of sleeping pill or drugged me in some way. It took me a very long time to get back to reality. I felt sluggish and my tongue felt thick. This feeling lasted for a couple of days.

A day or two later I found out that this cape was from Mexico and had belonged to a Shaman. It was used in special ceremonies. I hadn’t mentioned this to my friend; it was the other way around. He had told me, quite spontaneously, that he was told that the cape was used for magical purposes that involved whistles and dancing, and was performed out in the desert, away from towns and especially the Church. How or why our friend managed to get this cape I don’t know, except that was a collector of what we call folk art and folk religious items. To those that participated in these dances and ceremonies, those are just labels used by outsiders.

Desert Visitation: The Green Warty "Man"

This incident happened about twenty-five years ago or so. I was sitting on the bed reading. I wasn’t in bed; it was still early. I was simply on top of the covers, dressed, reading my book. My husband was in the other room. I had what I call a “mind post card,” -- it’s an experience that happens every so often, where the picture, absolutely vivid 3-D full color image, is “inserted” into my mind with a sharp suddenness. It’s as if someone had literally slid a postcard or a slide of an image (and very often a moving image) into my head. I don’t know where it comes from, or why it happens. Usually it’s a telepathic thing: a preview of something that occurs later that day, or within a day or two. This time however, it wasn’t a prediction of something; it was a “visit.”

This “mind post card” was of a dirty lime-green being with warts or bony stubby nubs all over his body. He had two little stubs or buttons at the top of his forehead; not horns or antlers, but the suggestion of such. I just “knew” that this being was male. It wasn’t human, but it wasn’t animal. It was maybe closer to human than not, but definitely not human. He was sitting in profile to me, squatting down actually. We were out in the desert -- or, he was. At this point it doesn’t matter; it was as if I was transported, or his whole world superimposed itself onto mine. I was there with him/it. We had entered each other’s realm of existence. Somehow I had been transported to his desert, and his desert had moved closer to my world.

He “saw” me and turned his head to look at me. He slowly grinned at me, but this was no happy smiley expression! He was a nasty piece of work! It was clear he knew exactly how I was feeling, and thought it very funny in a sadistic way. He was also a little irritated I was there -- or, he was here -- that we were in each other’s worlds.

I was so damn startled that I screamed. With that scream he popped out (or I was snapped back to my own reality.) And again he seemed irritated, it as if he wanted me to stick around so he could toy with me. He was mad I had screamed and ruined the fun. Such a temporary and special event gone in a flash.

To this day I remember that experience with a chill. I don’t associate any UFO experience or connection with this (although, with all the high strangeness that often accompanies UFOs who knows) and I wouldn’t say it was alien. Not alien from another planet; not even alien from this earth. But I had the sense it very much belonged here and was of the earth, and it belonged here, if such judgments can be made on these things, more than humans. I had the feeling it was indigenous to the earth.

TCI Featured `Writers' - December Feature

Hello All Fans Of The C Influence - Welcome Back especially to our fans who have marked us a favorite (why not do that yourself if you haven't yet). Today I begin a once a month feature that TCI will be doing - and that will be to feature some of the primary websites and postings that TCI writers have done recently. Please bookmark and return to The C Influence - http://thecinfluenceblog.blogspot.com/ .

Today - I begin with http://psychonauticus.blogspot.com/ one of Erich Kuersten main webpages.
Dec 1st - The Cheshire Cat Style ......What is the difference between hallucinations and waking life? Are dreams the third eye vision of alternate realities?

Take the Cheshire Cat for example which exists with 'just a smile' now there are many ways to interpet this, some very literally, like the EXORCIST: THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN, some less so.
What about the audio?
I've had episodes where my own thoughts were spoken to me by the crazed horns in Mingus’ Saint and the Sinner Lady album. The repeating squawks now becoming a human voice, my voice, our voice, The Voice, for it has always only been one voice.....
Want more?http://psychonauticus.blogspot.com/2010/12/cheshire-cat-style.html
Novemeber 7th - http://psychonauticus.blogspot.com/2010/11/100-year-long-mp3.html
--------------------------------------------
Bruceleeeowe's site - http://weirdsciences.net/ - almost daily explores the outer reaches of the science side of the near impossible.

Bruce's most recent offering was on Dec. 3rd - http://weirdsciences.net/2010/12/03/growing-crops-on-other-planets/ -- beginning with these words ..... Science fiction lovers aren’t the only ones captivated by the possibility of colonizing another planet. Scientists are engaging in numerous research projects that focus on determining how habitable other planets are for life. Mars, for example, is revealing more and more evidence that it probably once had liquid water on its surface, and could one day become a home away from home for humans.

“The spur of colonizing new lands is intrinsic in man,” said Giacomo Certini, a researcher at the Department of Plant, Soil and Environmental Science (DiPSA) at the University of Florence, Italy. “Hence expanding our horizon to other worlds must not be judged strange at all. Moving people and producing food there could be necessary in the future.”
Humans traveling to Mars, to visit or to colonize, will likely have to make use of resources on the planet rather than take everything they need with them on a spaceship. This means farming their own food on a planet that has a very different ecosystem than Earth’s. Certini and his colleague Riccardo Scalenghe from the University of Palermo, Italy, recently published a study in Planetary and Space Science that makes some encouraging claims. They say the surfaces of Venus, Mars and the Moon appear suitable for agriculture.....

On Dec 2nd - Bruce did this - GJ 1214b: Probing the Atmospheres of Super Earths - http://weirdsciences.net/2010/12/02/gj-1214b-probing-the-atmospheres-of-super-earths/

----------------------------------------------
Bruce Duensing's website - http://materialintangible.blogspot.com/ provides a wealth of material that challenges the outer limits of brain intelligence.

Bruce's most recent offering - http://materialintangible.blogspot.com/2010/12/biochemical-fire-of-unknown-origin.html begins in this manner:
A few days ago, I published the following; "After posting three short essays on the unknown experiential and non linguistic language that seems to thread behind what appears on the screen, in a variety of settings within the paranormal spectrum, which culminated in a very anomalous series of polyphonic tones coming from a electronic device, there is another layer to this, which I had ( up until this morning), dismissed as a fluke or some unknown glitch, whose origin escapes me, that is ( once again) my telephone answering machine. Some of you may recall the two previous strange encounters with odd electronic voices interacting with my family, warning of something or someone as "nefarious", which then led to a e-mail correspondence with George Hansen and Mark Macy. In the past week, and in particular this morning there have been a semi-regular series of inbound calls that:

1. Triggered the answering machine
2. Have left no identifying numbers of origin
3. The recordings have been the sound of a warning tone, and a message,
" the number you have reached is no longer in service"
4. A disconnect "click" is heard.

On Nov. 27th - Bruce did this post -

Regan Lee's Website - http://orangeorb.blogspot.com/ - her latest post Dec. 4th - her topic, `implants' in Soldiers - This chilling story brings up so many obvious things, including the idea that much of the alien abduction scenarios are created by governments: MILABS, etc. One vet suing the CIA found, via an MRI, a chip implanted by way of his sinuses....http://orangeorb.blogspot.com/2010/12/cia-implanted-electrodes-in-brains-of.html

John Carlson's Website - http://www.theparanomalist.com/ - has been covering Cryptozoology with some infield reports this one from Nov. 22nd http://www.theparanomalist.com/2926/adam-davies-returns-from-india/ - Adam Davies returned Saturday, November 20th from his expedition in search of India’s famed apeman, the Mande Burung (Wild Jungle People). After two weeks in the jungles of the West Garo Hills district of the state of Meghalaya, Adam and his team of researchers came away with some very compelling evidence of the creature’s existence. Having just returned, Adam was understandably jet-lagged and exhausted, but he was kind enough to send me a brief email in which he offered to allow me to reprint some of the initial notes he made on his blog concerning his findings. I hope to speak with Adam soon (once he’s rested and recovered) to gather some further information about this latest expedition, but in the meanwhile, here is what he has to say:...

SP-8 Phillips Moderates Lake Monster Illusion Posts

Welcome to The C Influence Blog - TCI - thanks for visiting today. TCI is a new idea in blogging in that the writers on TCI take one seed idea - and each do a post about the idea and the other writers posts on the idea (we are still working on that part - lol). The idea is to have a discussion of ideas that will be a pleasure to read; - and that we do have a TCI.

TCI your ONE stop for the best paranormal bloggers doing what they do best - blogging about paranormal ideas.

The latest seed idea was Lake Monsters by Bruceleeeowe http://thecinfluenceblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/lake-monster-illusion.html. Bruce brought forth several logical reasons why `monsters' might be seen from `people’s anticipations' to the vast unknowns of the sea of Earth. He also sited this interesting case:
`in Rotterdam in 1978. A small panda had escaped from a zoo, whereupon officials had issued a media alert. Soon panda sightings—around one hundred in all—were reported across the Netherlands. However, a single animal could not have been in so many places in so short a time; in fact, no one had seen the panda, because it had been killed by a train when it reached railroad tracks near the zoo.' - Bruce also pointed out some flaws in science trying to find sea cryptids.

Duensing then responded with  http://thecinfluenceblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/aberrant-attraction-of-sea-monsters.html - his usual flair - expanding the topic with his precise generalizations (if that is possible) - for example:
`As far as the oceanic realm, Cryptozoology veers along swerving test course between mythology, witness accounts and cases of mistaken identity. Sound familiar? However, in this case, there are monsters of the deep, that more appear to be victims of decidedly human tastes in form and function, which tie back to the aforementioned instinctual drives that create both genocidal and reactive behaviors in us as well as the accompanying and often imaginary fear that rationalizes all this' then leaping with a flourish such as `This is the tale of the Gnostic who loathes the Whore of the natural systems of Earth. Perfumed Scorpions and Sea Monsters have perhaps in the end, a relative value from afar. In this, according to the Sufi, is the subtle reality of an individual, the “I.” As opposed to the spirit (rūḥ) or to the intellect (‘aql), the nafs appears in a negative aspect, because it is made up of the sum of individual or egocentric tendencies.'

Ouellet was next up with http://thecinfluenceblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/sp-8-ouellet-commenting-on-lake.html his perspective which focuses on `elusiveness' :
The Lake Monsters phenomenon is another example of what unifies the so-called paranormal, namely elusiveness. UFOs, ghosts, Big Foot and psi effects leave, if any, only feeble traces that invariably fail to confirm the witnesses’ account. Furthermore, every time someone takes the means to have a substantive confirmation of the phenomenon, it also invariably fails to show-up, or if it does it is a hoax. This is elusiveness, which is described by the parapsychologist Walter von Loucadou as follow: “the phenomenon will behave ‘as it pleases’ as long as it is not observed attentively”.

Then, Strickler offered up first hand experience about Lake Monsters - and - their benefit to `local businesses' - he provides a great case example:
http://thecinfluenceblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/sp-8-lon-strickler-responding-to-lake.html
in 2008 I was asked by a LakesTV representative to publish the screen captures from the original video on my blog. The video was located on the LakesTV website at the time. I asked if I could use the video and was denied access. The representative informed me that they wanted to 'market the video and it would be copyrighted' - discover which case within the link.

Not to be outdone - Lee then offered a top of the line post - http://thecinfluenceblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/random-responses-to-water-monsters.html - called - Random Responses to Water Monsters, Clowns,Cannibals and Noticing - and the first thing Lee did was directly comment (this is what it is about, commenting on the other ideas too) about what Duensing said:Bruce  begins his post with the question:"What makes a creature monstrous to us?" I found it interesting Bruce used, among the many images he used in his post, a photo of a clown face. To my mind, a disturbing, creepy, unwholesome, garish and violent-vibe emitting image. and as Lee's post goes on - she comments on nearly every post of the Lake Monster seed. What an excellent example of what TCI is trying to be - strong esoteric stuff.

Please make sure to look around our sidebar before you go today - and - thanks for visiting.

SP-6 - Phillips Responds To The Bigfoot Paradox

My oh my - the readers have been having a field day with this topic as have been the writers - bravo folks.

Ok, first Duensing asked for an anagram sentence for the words Bigfoot, Ufo's, Hauntings -- how about - "A Buffoon Ghosting Suit" ------> Could anything be more dead on to our subject matter this week? ------- But, I digress.

Responding in order of posting as briefly as I can on the subject of The Bigfoot Paradox - Seed Post Six.

First, Lon - great re-touching of a great post. Perhaps what I liked most was the `examples of stories' of the DEAD Bigfoot(s) that seem around at some level (I've read on your P&M site about the one killed in the St. Mount Helen's blast) but --- NEVER with the solid proof that one would hope beyond being `stories'. I'm of the kind that I'll need a little bit more. That said, at the end of June at Barf Stew - I explained my view that `even proof' of a Bigfoot - without a body - wouldn't be `enough' - http://barfstew.blogspot.com/2010/06/why-bigfoot-proof-will-not-be-enough.html at least for me.

But, let me assume for a minute that indeed one of these `temporal characters' was shot and killed and `brought back' as a real space with on-going existence. Since, I am of the thought that such a thing would be like bagging a doppelganger - which I view as impossible - would mean that IF it happened - that somewhere, somewhen a `real' bigfoot was `caught' --- it - to me - would give credence to a creature with an on-going population base in some manner.

Lastly, let me say that I'm honored to have a role in your review of this issue in your posting - and to me - the real issue you raise is WHAT IF THE STORIES ARE TRUE? (I'm reminded of the de Loy's Ape picture I saw on one of your sites.)
------------------------------------------
Next, Mr. Duensing's observations - ---- beautifully written Bruce - eloquent as always - I guess the main points I'd like to reflect upon in a different manner would be my `hardness' on thinking we are in some big transformation mindwise at this stage of humanity. Perhaps I'm being bullheaded. Ultimately, I feel that `the event spaces' occupied by `the anomalous' has a bit more independence than you normally position in your writings on a given day.
-------------------------------------------
Eric - you are incredibly concise in your writing and projecting of ideas -- wow - extremely impressive review of the state of the matter (as brought out by Lon and Bruce also). That said, one idea I did want to respond to:
As well, there are Psycho-social hypotheses (PSH), held by debunkers about both UFOs and Bigfoot
This is somewhat what I was trying to articulate above - while the argument is good - it seems to me that it also doesn't fit 100%.
-------------------------------------------
Regan - what can I say - it's posts like yours - well, everyone's really - that will make The C Influence experiment - real. We all bring similar points of view yet with refreshing differences and emphasis on certain attributes. We at
 TCI are indeed Forteans.

I too followed the last days of The Blogsquatcher and was incredibly impressed with the body of evidence and line of thought the blogger displayed about the UFO/Bigfoot connection. And perhaps I should withhold this judgement - but, to me - Lisa Shiel's concept (as I understand it - that a Bigfoot followed her move to a new location and that she confirms such with the sticks in the woods) I am vastly less impressed with. (Hey I can be a jerk.)

And, what a story about Stan Johnson - especially the bookstore event. Great read of that whole experience - thanks for sharing that with TCI readers. Wonderful again.
-------------------------------------------------
Bruceleeeowe --- thanks indeed for your contribution and viewpoints. I knew that you would bring a viewpoint worth considering. And, I certainly find your taking the `other' (bigfoot is a physical entity) viewpoint and supporting it in a science manner refreshing.

Indeed, what other blog has folks saying the psychological viewpoint on one hand; and, has the young advocate that tells us that theory says it is possible for these `anomalous events'. Including space travel and including isolated real Bigfoots. And, while I might not share some of your viewpoints and wish you could come back in and clean up your script a bit (you know, paragraphs and such, as all submitted material will appear as is) - the balance I sought by having you be a writer on TCI is well shown by your effort.

I'd only caution that at your young age - 19 - that it's quite likely that your beckoning of the anomalous via your blog and here at TCI - may `cause' one of these Fortean events your fellow writers have been experiencing and trying to figure out. I will welcome your interpretation when that occurs.

Excellent.

Great, in-depth, writing folks -- I'm very impressed. Thanks for your efforts.

Regan Responds to Lon’s SP6: The Bigfoot Paradox -- Bigfoot and Fairies

Wow, a fantastic post by Lon. I’ve been fascinated by UFO themed, paranormal or supernatural narratives concerning Bigfoot for years. These tales of high strangeness encounters inspired me a few years ago to start a blog devoted just to this topic [Frame 352: The Stranger Side of Sasquatch.]

Like the Contactee stories of meetings with beings from Venus or Mars, rides aboard spaceships, metaphysical discourse between human and alien, the tales of Bigfoot meetings containing yet further bizarre elements are incredible to believe; certainly if we take them literally. But, these tales do exist, and as Lon and others ask: what about them?

We have to look at these tales, and we have to acknowledge their existence. As Forteans, that’s easy, it’s what we do. Strictly “flesh and blood” Bigfoot researchers often don’t allow themselves that luxury and in fact, (as recent events have proven on a couple of well known Bigfoot message boards) many Bigfoot forums will kick you off if you start up about UFO or inter-dimensional Bigfoot. Some boards and groups have had it in their TOS that they won’t allow such discussions at all. It's an understatement to say that the flesh and blood vs. paranormal Bigfoot discussion is a controversial one.

There was an excellent Bigfoot blog around: The Blogsquatcher. For reasons of his own, the “Blogsquatcher” decided to stop blogging about Bigfoot and his research in the spring of 2010 and the blog is no longer active. But he was one of the few Bigfoot bloggers who gave serious consideration to the paranormal/UFO/anomalous aspects of Sasquatch encounters. Other paranormal Bigfoot blogs include author and researcher Lisa Shiel (Backyard Bigfoot:The True Story of Stick Signs, UFOs and the Sasquatch) who is not only a researcher, but has had her own UFO sightings and high strangeness encounters concerning Bigfoot. Peter Guittilla has been writing about high strangeness Bigfoot for years, and his book Bigfoot Files is a great collection of stories from witnesses about their weird encounters.

Good thoughts posted here on The C-Influence from others on the nature of high strangeness Bigfoot, and I can’t really add anything; it’s already been said, and very well. I will share a bit of my own experience with the “other side” of Bigfoot however.

I remember when I first came across a “weird Bigfoot” story. It was many years ago and for some reason, the article, (I believe written by Jack Lapseritis, who Lon mentions in his post) ticked me off. It made me angry. Now, why is that? That’s an interesting response to something I knew nothing about, isn’t it? I “believed in” Bigfoot; meaning, I accepted that Bigfoot most likely existed. A flesh and blood Bigfoot, and, a “giant ape,” at that. Now of course, I believe no such thing-- oh, I believe Bigfoot exists all right, but Bigfoot is more, far more, than “just a giant ape.”

But, as a Fortean in the making, I couldn’t bring myself to just throw away the article, so I filed it away. Synchronicty came along, and suddenly, I was coming across all kinds of articles about UFOs and Bigfoot, Bigfoot living under ground, dematerializing Bigfoot, etc. I was definitely intrigued. I was hooked, actually, and remain so today.

Then I came upon two Oregon (where I live) weird Bigfoot tales. One is the “monster” in Conser Lake outside of Albany, Oregon,  and the other, the experiences of Stan Johnson in Sutherlin, Oregon.  (Both subjects of a project I’ve been working on for awhile now.) I won't go into details about either here, but both share many similarities (even while differing in many respects; for example, appearance.) Both stories include landed UFOs, Bigfoot or “hairy biped” associated with that UFO, the Bigfoot communicating with humans that it came from outer space, telepathic communications between the Bigfoot creature and humans, strange sounds heard in close proximity to humans but no creature seen, and a lot more.

I met Stan Johnson once at a local UFO conference; he was one of the presenters. He was elderly ; I’d say in his seventies, yet he was very charismatic. As I listened to him speak, I found myself disagreeing with his personal perception on things which were framed within a religious context, but his energy was profoundly strong and, when he shook my hand and we spoke for a few minutes, I could feel this energy -- a heat, and an electrical feeling - - emanating from him. And here’s an interesting tangent: I had less trouble believing his stories of his paranormal encounters with Bigfoot -- it really wasn’t such a stretch for me to accept the possibility he had these experiences -- as I did accepting his personal, religious interpretation of those experiences.

One day around that time, I was speaking with the then owner of a local New Age bookstore, Stargate, who had known Stan, the object of our discussion. As we were talking about Stan, I became aware of a bright white cone of light -- like an upside down ice cream cone-- that had come down through the ceiling and settled on us, sort of covering us or enclosing us. I was inwardly freaked out; was I going crazy, having a migraine, what? Sound became muffled, light was weird; I could still hear and see but it was as if I was looking through a glass brick. As soon as had stopped talking about Stan, the cone of light lifted back up into the ceiling and “out.” The owner gave me a funny look; I thought, “She must think I’m nuts, I probably look panic stricken as all hell” but she said, “You saw what too; that always happens when we talk about Stan.”

So there that is.

Back to the religious aspect of some of this: Stan Johnson considered himself a Christian, and didn’t see any conflict with his beliefs and his experiences. Yet an Oregon Bigfoot researcher not long ago rejected my following her blog -- and her, mine -- because, as this person told me, they considered themselves a Christian, and therefore, could not accept any discussion or link to any blogs that had to do with “the paranormal.” In an authentic and genuine attempt to understand, I responded that, if one puts themselves out there as a Bigfoot researcher, yet rejects accounts that conflict with personal values, well, is that research? Of course this isn’t limited to religious views; there are Bigfoot researchers who may or may not consider themselves religious but their rejection of this high strangeness Bigfoot isn’t based on religious convictions necessarily, but simply the old flesh and blood vs. high strangeness. This is another area of discussion I guess but I find it interesting a researcher can be so involved in a marginalized, and trivialized, area, and yet, have their own buffers that keep them from going completely down the rabbit hole.

Bigfoot researcher Autumn Williams (whose recent book, Enoch, while not dealing with high strangeness Bigfoot, has received a lot of criticism -- and praise -- for focusing on both the protection of Bigfoot, as well as the witness, and the dynamics between witness and researcher) has suggested, along with other researchers (like the Blogsquatcher) that Bigfoot is almost eerily sensitive to physical effects of things like cameras and infrared. We can speculate that it’s possible the creature we call Sasquatch, Bigfoot, etc. has highly developed senses to the point of being supernatural. (Speaking of Autumn Williams, her mother, Sali Sheppard-Wolford, has written her own book-- Valley of the Skookum -- about her highly unusual Bigfoot experiences which include MIBS, UFOs, telepathic communications and other high strangeness.) Or, of course, Bigfoot simply is “supernatural.” Some, like Lisa Shiel, and Patrick Harpur in his excellent book Daemonic Reality, suggest Bigfoot is a fairy. Specifically, as Shiel suggests here, a water fairy. Shiel writes that Bigfoot’s affinity for water (something apes do not share, which is more evidence to support Bigfoot as a non-ape creature) parallels Celtic, Algonquian, and other cultural fairy entities. Bigfoot is a remnant of the fairy realm. This idea explains UFOs, alien beings, the dematerializing, feelings of disorientation reported by witnesses ... like Jacque Vallee’s Passport to Magonia, where comparisons between the fairy realm and UFOs are made to support the idea much of what we call UFOs (and aliens) are earth bound entities, not ETs, Bigfoot could also be thought of as a fairy creature.

Regan - Actualizes Esoteric Discussion - Reflections and Tricks

(phillips moderates) - Regan Lee explores the edge of Lon's post of `appearing entities' - but presenting below an excellent piece worthy in every manner for what TCI would like to become - an esoteric discussion. Regan suggests various ideas based on pure experience and yet looks for deeper explanations - worthy of discussion of other TCI writers as most of us have had some non-ordinary `events'. Indeed, I hope all TCI writers take it to heart that this will be a forum where we can speak of the non-ordinary without fear. Regan's piece is below.

Discussions here on paranormal manifestations; are these appearances  caused by “them,” ours, or combinations, a symbiotic dance, or projections? Who feeds off of whom?

I posted two images on a recent blog entry at my Orange Orb taken in a haunted house. This house has a lot of activity witnessed by many witnesses, including myself. A local news crew came out to the house a few years ago and one of the entities was clearly having a good time showing off for them. Classic things occurred: equipment, just checked before “investigations,” suddenly stopped working, heavy cameras on tripods and lights fell over abruptly as if they’d been shoved, lilting laughter and voices, hot and cold spots, ectoplasm manifesting before my very eyes . .  .

I believe the witnesses, and I’ve experienced these things as well. The area has a history of weirdness, complete with cemetery up the road. Furthermore, this kind of activity, as well as psychic traits, “follows” the family throughout generations, primarily on the female side of the family. Regardless of physical location, the “hauntings” (and a few UFO cases) are experienced by members of this very large, extended family clan, even across states.

For some of the members, all this stuff is matter of fact; they’ve lived with it all their lives. While I believe everyone I’ve spoken to, and as I’ve said, have had my own experiences there, as well as throughout my whole life with other similar situations, there have been times when I’ve wondered in listening to some of the witnesses, how much of their expectations --and their decisions about what it is that’s going on --  influence what they experience?

The recent post on The Orange Orb includes two images I took of a stairway in this house. The first time I was on this stairway, a few years ago, I felt a tremendous burst of hot, electrical energy. I’ve always heard that cold spots were typical, yet I felt almost electrocuted. I wasn’t told that this staircase was an active spot; I had no idea. The feeling wasn't uncomfortable, in fact, it was even pleasant in a weird way, but it was something I’d never experienced before, or since.

The other day, back on that same staircase, trying to maintain a sense of openness and being grounded. Yet I couldn't help but wonder (hope, even) that I’d see or feel something. Up the stairs I go, didn’t feel anything close to warmth or electrical. Oh well. Suddenly I felt a blast of icy cold; there, I felt it, the typical cold spot. Was that a projection on my part? (Which is a intellectually classy way of saying “wishful thinking.) I disagree that it was: it was a literal, outside of me event, but also a Trickster moment. Reminding me that it’s there and knows I’m out here trying to notice it. You want hot, nah, I’m playing cold today.

The images which you can see on the blog, show an image of light, seated like a figure, at the top of the stairs. Those two images have generated a lot of discussion; reposted by ghost hunters on various forums, and by some of the residents of the house. One of those comments are from a family member who now has the room at the top of the stairs, who has said, of those images, that it’s “bullshit,” and merely reflections of light.

Hoping to capture something with the camera, I aimed, I shot, and, ... a shape evoking a figure appears.  As tantalizing as the idea of an entity appearing on film is, I agree it is light, blurs and reflections. And yet, I can’t help but feel that there could have been brought about by a trickster type trait of this specific entity.

Between these experiences of us: human, mortal, mundane, and the afterlife, or extended consciousness, spirit, whatever terms we use, are veils that move quietly and softly between us. I suspect  “they” on the other side are more aware of us than we are of them and are better at manipulating energies. Responding to our intents and expectations. Reflecting back to us what they want us to see, and what we think we want to see.

It's not either or, ghost/no ghost, wishful thinking vs. reality. It's all of it, some of it, sometimes it's just what it is: them, us.   Within all that are levels of information that affect the manifestations, including the manifesting itself. Are we, are they, are all of us. . . ? Who's playing at any given moment?

But some things are sure; what we call ghosts, or spirits, exist. It's more complex than just dead people showing themselves occasionally as flimsy, vague shapes. Like us, they vary in ability and temperament.
